Woman duped of ₹1 lakh on work visa lure

Panchkula: A woman from Pinjore was duped of Rs 1 lakh on the pretext of providing her daughter and a relative an Armenian work permit. She was given a tourist visa instead. The immigration agency owner, who has an office in Sector 8, Chandigarh was booked.
In her police complaint, Daljit Kaur, a resident of Jatta Majri village, Pinjore said that she decided to send her 22-year-old daughter Karamjit and a relative, Jashan Singh, a resident of Rajpura in Patiala district of Punjab to a foreign country on work visa. Daljit said that she went to Milestone Education and Immigration Services in Sector-8/C, Chandigarh and met one Pawan Kumar alias Pamma who said they would provide the work visa and assured that they would also help them get a job.  On April 8, Daljit gave Rs 1 lakh cash and documents. On April 12, Pamma sent a Visa document through WhatsApp on Daljit’s number. On getting it verified, they found that it a tourist visa of 21-days validity. tnn
