ACB conducts major action; Pollution Control Department clerk arrested while accepting Rs 30,000YAMUNANAGAR: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has carried out an operation in Yamunanagar, arresting a woman clerk of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 in exchange for issuing a required document related to hospital construction.
The accused clerk, identified as Divya Joshi, was arrested on Tuesday evening during a planned trap laid by the ACB. According to officials, Rinku, a resident of Gharaunda village in Karnal district, is constructing Prabhu Hospital on Railway Road in Yamunanagar city. A document from the Pollution Control Board was mandatory for the hospital project, for which Rinku had submitted an application.

It is alleged that Divya demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 for issuing the document and pressured the applicant to move the file forward. Troubled by the demand, Rinku lodged a complaint with the ACB. After a preliminary verification of the complaint, the ACB devised a strategy and laid a trap.
As per the plan, on Tuesday evening, the complainant was sent to the accused with the bribe amount. The moment Divya accepted the cash, the ACB team, already stationed nearby, apprehended her red-handed.
The ACB has registered a case against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act and is continuing further interrogation. Investigators are also examining whether any other officials or employees of the department were involved in the matter. The accused has been sent to the ACB in Panchkula.
Officials have refrained from sharing further details at this stage, stating that more information will be released from Panchkula as the investigation progresses.
