Bus hits truck; 2 killed

AMBALA: Two persons were killed and more than six were injured in a fatal road accident wherein a bus of

Himachal Pradesh

collided with a truck near the

Ambala-Delhi National Highway

in the wee hours of Wednesday. The collision took place as a result of poor visibility owing to thick cover of smog in the area, said SHO traffic Somesh Kumar.

According to information, the bus had started its fateful journey from Manali and was on its way to Delhi . The bus, registered with the Kullu depot, collided with a slow-moving truck from behind, allegedly due to poor visibility. The impact of the collision was so strong that the truck rolled over to the other side of the highway and overturned, while the front of the bus was completely damaged.

The SHO traffic informed that the driver of the bus and another female passenger, who was sitting behind the driver’s seat, lost their lives in the accident. The police rushed the conductor of the truck, the truck driver and other passengers of the bus, suffering from injuries to the Civil Hospital, Ambala.

Police are yet to identify the identity of the other deceased apart from the driver.

Another incident had taken place on the

national highway

on Monday morning, just a few metres away from the spot of the current accident.
