CHANDIGARH: The Ambala division has successfully conducted the trial run of the soundproof AC panoramic vistadome coaches on Kalka-Shimla heritage section. Four coaches made a successful journey to Shimla at a speed of 22 kmph.

Ambala division railway manager Mandeep Singh Bhatia said a series of trial runs will be held till June 26 and the coaches will be tested up to 28 kmph. Travel time with this speed is likely to be reduced by 1.20 hours. At this speed, the train will reach Shimla in 3.35 hours instead of the current 4.50 hours. Divisional regional manager (DRM) Mandeep Singh Bhatia said, “Kalka-Shimla heritage Section successfully conducted the trial run of brand new fabricated coaches with panoramic view having aircraft seats. RCF Kapurthala officials were also present during the trial run. The optimum speed was tested from Shogi to Shimla.” Abhishek Dogra, deputy CME, design, RCF said, “The speed trial will be held gradually, increasing it from 22 kmph to 28 kmph till June 26. On June 28, the train will be run with passengers.”
