SHIMLA: Opposition BJP in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday said that chief minister
Virbhadra Singh has lost the right to rule and should seek fresh mandate.
Congress had faced humiliating defeat in 59 assembly constituencies, out of total 68, in the recent parliamentary polls, but despite this, Virbhadra Singh has not resigned, it said.
In a statement here on Sunday, BJP state spokesperson Ganesh Dutt said that Virbhadra Singh has lost grip over administration and public.
In a bid to show its activeness, the government is resorting to transfers of government officials and employees, he alleged.
"The entire state including Shimla is facing acute shortage of potable water. Instead of taking concrete measures in this regard, shallow claims about bringing water for Shimla from Satluj or Pabbar rivers are being made, but the end result is zero," he said.
Dutt said that roads -- especially in Shimla, which is the home district of CM — across the state are in a bad shape and the government has failed to improve their condition. Around 20 days are left for the arrival of monsoon after which the condition of roads would worsen further, he said.
"During the Congress regime, Himachal Pradesh failed to get even a single penny from Centre but now, after formation of Modi government at Centre, Virbhadra Singh is leaving no stone unturned in seeking funds for the state," Dutt said.
During its last one and half years of rule, the Congress government has taken over Rs 4,000 crore loan, but even then it is not hesitating from giving plum positions to favoured ones in the government. The issue of appointment of over two dozen chairmen and vice-chairmen of public bodies amounts to betrayal of public expectations, he added.
