Vice-President calls for ‘progress with purpose’
Chandigarh: The Vice-President of India, C P Radhakrishnan, on Sunday addressed the 20th convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, calling upon graduating students to lead India's technological and developmental journey with responsibility, discipline, and a deep sense of national pride. Haryana governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh, chief minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, NIT director Prof B V Ramana Reddy, and other dignitaries graced the ceremony. In his address, the Vice-President said he felt privileged to join the milestone event at one of India's premier institutions, describing NIT Kurukshetra as an institute with a "rich legacy, vibrant present, and a future that continues to shape India's technical standards." Calling Kurukshetra a sacred land symbolizing the eternal triumph of dharma over adharma, he reminded students that their convocation was not merely a ceremony but the beginning of a new chapter filled with hope, responsibility and opportunity.Reflecting on rapid global advances in artificial intelligence, renewable energy, semiconductors, biotechnology, space technology and cybersecurity, Shri Radhakrishnan emphasized that technology today is a powerful enabler redefining industries and societal functioning. He urged students to innovate with a moral compass, stating, "The true purpose of technology is not progress alone, but progress with purpose."
