Verses of heritage echo at Patiala Kavi Darbar
Patiala: The district administration organised a Heritage Kavi Darbar at Government Mahindra College during the Patiala Heritage Festival 2026 under supervision of Patiala deputy commissioner (DC) Varjeet Walia.The Kavi Darbar featured several poets. Surjit judge presented Hindi and Punjabi poems on national unity, labour issues and contemporary politics. Balwinder Sandhu presented Shahr Mera Patiala. Trailochan Lochi recited ghazals Tin Mawan and Gharan Di Roshni, while Gursevak Lambi presented Dil Nu Tu Dil Rakhi. Rubina Shabnam recited Avagaman on the inner world of women. Sant Singh Sohal recited a composition dedicated to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Charan Puadhi and Satish Vidrohi presented Mare Gaon Ki Burian and Marhi Boli, Marha Lahija on rural Puadhi culture, while Navdeep Mundi highlighted environmental conservation through his work. Asha Kiran portrayed the colours of Punjab's native months.
Nodal officer SDM Harjot Kaur Mavi said poets representing Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu and Puadhi languages enthralled a large gathering with ghazals, poems and lyrical compositions. Mayor Kundan Gogia attended the event as the chief guest, while director, languages department, Jaswant Singh Zafar, presided over the Mushaira. College Principal Nishtha Tripathi welcomed the dignitaries and participants.Mayor Kundan Gogia said the Punjab Govt, while working towards the vision of Rangla Punjab, continued to preserve the culture and heritage of the state through special festivals such as the Patiala Heritage Festival. In his presidential remarks, director Jaswant Singh Zafar appreciated the inclusion of the Kavi Darbar in the festival and lauded the enthusiasm of the college staff and students. His recitations-Rona Nahi, Khun, Pasina Te Syahi and Dooja Pasa-were widely admired.Gurpreet Dhillon presented Ik Akh Sapna and Kirpal Moonak presented Mahi Ve Modh Bahara with tarannum. Bajinder Thakur urged the audience to preserve Punjabi language and heritage, while Jaswinder Chahal recited Mardmshumari. Amritpal Shaida recited verses on the turban and Punjabi pride. Gurvinder Aman shared reflections on the struggles of working-class communities. Professors Puneet, Sukhwinder and Gagandeep recited poems on Patiala, the legacy of Mahindra College and the bond between a father and his children.MSID:: 128308226 413 |
