Chandigarh: A vegetable vendor showed presence of mind and chased away three bike-borne snatchers who had robbed him in Sector 38, forcing them to abandon their motorcycle at the spot.
In his complaint, Dushyant, a resident of Dadumajra Colony, said he was selling vegetables in Sector 38 Tuesday when three men on a bike approached his cart and overpowered him. The accused snatched around Rs 1,500, a mobile phone and some documents.
As the trio attempted to flee, the vendor chased them, prompting the accused to escape on foot, leaving their bike behind. Dushyant later handed over the motorcycle to the police.
He alerted the police through the 112 helpline with the help of passersby. A team from Maloya police station reached the spot, seized the vehicle and recorded his statement.
Police said they are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the accused and verify the sequence of events.
