UT power sector employees hold rallies against privatisation

Chandigarh: Employees of the UT power department, the municipal corporation (MC) and other institutions held protest rallies and demonstrations in front of their respective offices here on Saturday to protest the privatisation of the power sector.
The decision for the protest was taken by All India State Govt Employees Federation on the call of the Federation of UT Employees and Workers Chandigarh.
The federation organised protest rallies and demonstrations at 18 places. All the one- and-a-half dozen unions associated with the federation participated in the demonstrations.
General secretary Gopal Dutt Joshi accused the govt and administration officials of selling the govt departments. He strongly condemned the use of ESMA and other ‘black laws' to suppress the peaceful protests being carried out in support of their demands. He warned the Chandigarh administration that if any attempt is made to suppress the voice of the employees, then the protests will be intensified and a do-or-die battle will be waged against the administration.
