UT bird club to hold waterfowl census
Three teams will count the actual number of waterfowl in the water bodies, both resident and migrant.
CHANDIGARH: To commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Salim Ali, the Bird Man of India, on Sunday, Chandigarh Bird Club (CBC) will conduct its Annual Waterfowl Census and Species count in Sukhna Lake, Sukhna Forest and Nagar Van.
Three teams will count the actual number of waterfowl in the water bodies, both resident and migrant.
They will also count the number of species seen in the area.

This helps in comparisons with earlier years and also any increase or decrease points at the health of the biotope. This information is shared with the UT forest department for record as well as corrective efforts.
The CBC conducts two waterfowl census every year, one on November 11 and second in February on the day of CBC Annual Bird Race.
