Shimla: Union power secretary Pankaj Agarwal on Friday inaugurated a double-lane steel truss bridge at Khaira across the Satluj river, developed under the 382 MW Sunni Dam hydroelectric project.
The bridge is expected to ease project operations and improve connectivity for remote panchayats in Mandi and Shimla, boosting local socio-economic development. He also inspected the dam site, underground machine hall and tailrace tunnel to assess progress.
Agarwal, along with senior officials, reviewed multiple projects of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) across Himachal Pradesh. At the 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri hydropower station, the team assessed performance benchmarks, while at 412 MW Rampur hydropower station, they promoted sustainability through plantation. Progress at the 210 MW Luhri-1 project was also reviewed, with emphasis on timely and quality completion.
