Chandigarh: Union minister Bhupender Yadav’s unannounced arrival at a function in Rewari, organised to honour former MP and BJP parliamentary board member Sudha Yadav on Sunday, once again triggered talk of the latter returning to a place of prominence in the politics of southern Haryana.
With the move, Sudha became an option to be projected as a senior leader by BJP. Yadav came out in strong support of Sudha during the function at Dhamlawas village of Rewari. Greeting the former MP, Yadav recounted his association with her as part of her campaigning team, while reiterating that she should move ahead for more goals. He said he would completely back her up. Even as Yadav’s visit left many surprised, Haryana cooperation minister Banwari Lal and Kosli MLA Lakshman Singh could not reach the venue.
Sudha was elected to Lok Sabha in 1999. She is a war widow as her husband, a deputy commandant of BSF, was martyred during the Kargil War. Yadav was picked up by the then Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee. Though she had been in active politics, she had been included in the BJP’s prestigious parliamentary board recently, becoming the second leader from southern Haryana to be included in the board.
Sudha’s function started from Kapriwas village, wherein former Rewari MLA Randhir Singh Kapriwas had organised the programme. Bhupender Yadav has been projected as an option for the BJP from southern Haryana, especially to counter the influence of Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh. Bhupender Yadav’s tour of Haryana has also triggered many other rumours.
Arvind Yadav, chairman of HARCO Bank and member of BJP’s state executive, dismissed speculation triggered by Sudha and Bhupender Yadav’s visit to Rewari on Sunday. “First, she had come for the first time after getting such an important post of the party. This is the good luck of people of Haryana that we have two such senior leaders from the state,” he said.
