Hisar: The police have arrested a man accused of beating a 45-year-old to death during a drunken altercation at a night shelter near Madhuban Park in Hisar. PSI Karamjeet, in-charge of the Civil Lines police station, identified the accused as Krishna, son of Shamsher Singh, a native of Almora in Uttarakhand. He was produced before a local court on Thursday and remanded to judicial custody.
The deceased, Balkar, a resident of Jind district, stayed at the night shelter set up by the Municipal Corporation. According to police, an argument broke out late Tuesday night among 3 to 4 men staying at the shelter while they consumed alcohol. The dispute turned violent, and Balkar was allegedly struck forcefully in the chest. He reportedly began bleeding from the nose and died shortly afterwards. Other occupants found him lying unconscious the next morning and alerted the police. The body was sent to Hisar Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination, and a forensic team collected evidence from the spot. Police said the accused was living in Hisar for about 15 years, and was unmarried. Acting on a tip-off, a police team apprehended him from Padav Chowk within 10 hours of the crime.
