CHANDIGARH: In a continuous
drive against drug peddlers
, cops arrested two persons including one with about 2,496 capsules of prohibited Proxyvon+ and another with 5gm heroin on Monday night. The accused were identified as Kabari Ram of
Khuda Ali Sher village
and Sonu Goyal of Baltana in Zirakpur.
Police said the drugs were recovered from the possession of Kabari Ram, who was arrested from near Barricade roundabout. The accused did not disclose the source of drugs and claimed that he had received the consignment from an unknown persons.
Another accused Sonu was arrested from from near Sector 34. About 4gm heroin was recovered from his possession. Police said Sonu is an addict and recently started supplying the heroin. The two were produced in a local court and remanded to judicial custody. Police have started the investigation.
The drive against drug peddlers was started after the death of local youth Nikhil Bajaj, who died due to drug overdose in Sector 23, on November 15. More than one dozen peddlers including women have been arrested during the drive.
