Two labourers dead, 4 injured as lintel collapses at construction site
Patiala: Two labourers were killed and four others were injured after a lintel under construction collapsed at Lang village near Patiala on Tuesday. The accident occurred at a house where a room was being built for livestock. According to information, the mishap took place at the residence of a villager while workers were attempting to raise the height of the roof. During the process, the partially constructed lintel gave way, trapping six persons, including the homeowner, under the debris. The two deceased labourers were identified as Gursewak Singh and Kuldeep Singh of Lang village.

Among the four injured, one resident along with his son has sustained confirmed fractures in his legs, while two other workers are hospitalised with injuries. All the injured were rushed to a private hospital in Patiala for treatment. Sources said some victims were initially admitted to Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital before being referred elsewhere. Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.DSP Jungvir Singh Randhawa along with SHO Lakhvinder Singh and other officials reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. Inspector Lakhvinder Singh stated that the collapse appeared to have been caused by a technical fault during the roof-elevation process.
