Amritsar: Police have arrested two people after two hand grenades were allegedly recovered from them in Amritsar.
Davinder Singh and Rajwinder Singh allegedly retrieved a consignment of explosive material sent by their handlers from across the border and were planning a terror activity to disturb the peace and harmony of the state, said Amritsar (rural) SSP Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal on Tuesday. Investigations suggest both were awaiting directions to carry out an attack.
The arrests were made by the Amritsar (rural) police in a joint operation with central agencies. A case under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act has been registered at Gharinda police station.
