Two held for assaulting student

Chandigarh: Maloya police arrested a 26-year-old man, Budh Ram alias Chhutka, for allegedly carrying a long knife. Police said that around 6:40pm on March 3, a patrol team stopped him for checking in Maloya. During frisking, a knife was recovered from his possession. The weapon was seized, a case under the Arms Act was registered, and he was remanded in judicial custody. Police added that a previous criminal case against him was already on record at Maloya police station. In a separate incident, police registered an assault case based on a complaint filed by 23-year-old Pradeep of Dadumajra. He stated that he, his brother Nitesh, and friends were near the local dumping ground when four men — Bheema, Chhota, Kaka and Rahul — blocked their path and assaulted them. After the attack, the accused fled. Police arrested Rahul on March 3 and said he was also booked in an attempted murder case in 2024. Search is ongoing for the remaining accused.MSID:: 129086093 413 |
