CHANDIGARH:
Punjab education minister Daljeet Singh Cheema on Tuesday claimed that leaders who had left
SAD for the
Congress will desert it after being denied tickets.
"Apprehending that elected members may desert him after the polls, Punjab Congress chief
Amarinder Singh is trying to field his henchmen as party nominees, especially his recent picks from other parties, despite resistance from Congress old guards," he said here.
The state Congress chief is under the illusion that those denied recognition in the SAD will bring laurels to the party, Cheema said. He forgets that if they were strong enough, their parent party would not have treated them like deadwoods, the minister said.
