Harpinder Singh, who was employed as a driver in Kuwait, purchased the winning ticket for Rs 500 from a ticket stall in Nurpur Bedi this month. Notably, Barwa village is the ancestral home of Ropar MLA Dinesh Chadha.

The 55-year-old winner visited the lottery stall accompanied by his son, Davinder Singh, upon receiving the news. He disclosed that despite participating in lotteries previously, he never won.

On January 12, he purchased the Punjab State Lohri Bumper ticket from a stall in Nurpur Bedi, Ropar district, never anticipating such a substantial win that would resolve his family's financial difficulties.

His son Devinder expressed gratitude and shared their intentions to clear their debts and establish a stable future. Davinder, who suffered serious arm and leg injuries in a 2023 accident, still experiences difficulty walking.

The family has outlined plans to invest the winnings in establishing a business, ensuring their family's financial security, supporting those in need, and some other welfare activities to help the poor.
