CHANDIGARH: Fraudsters stole a bag containing cash, a laptop, passport and other important documents of a Himachal Pradesh resident after conning his driver into believing that he had dropped his currency notes on the road in Manimajra on Saturday night.
Virender Sharma, who is a resident of Parwanoo and a trader, had gone to meet an acquaintance in NAC market, Manimajra, when two youths approached his driver, who was standing near the car.

They told him that he had dropped some cash on the road. As the driver started picking up the currency notes, one of the youths stole the bag from the car. Virender lodged an FIR at Manimajra police station.
It is the third incident within the past fortnight. On September 27, a Kharar resident, Jagjeet Singh, had gone to a bank when two unknown youths stole his bag containing Rs 2.50 lakh after fooling his driver in a similar fashion in Sector 8. A total of 21 such incidents have been reported in the city in the past nine months. In three of these cases, police have arrested
juveniles.
