Thefts, cyber crimes rise in Hisar division

HISAR: Crimes like murder, attempt to murder, dowry deaths, loot and dacoity, have come down this year in Hisar, Fatehabad, Sirsa, Jind and Hansi, while cases of thefts and cyber crimes have increased, said inspector general of police (IGP) Rakesh Arya.

IGP said a total of 131 cases of murders have been registered in Hisar division till November, while their number was 175 till November last year, a reduction of 25%. Cases of attempt to murders have fallen from 133 to 109, a decrease of 19%, while cases of dowry deaths from 35 to 27, a decrease of 23%, he said.

"Till November last year, a total of 29 cases of dacoity was reported in Hisar division, whereas this time 21 cases have been reported, which is 33% less than last year. Similarly, instead of 134 cases of robberies, 91 have been reported and there has been a decrease of 34 %," IGP said. IGP said till November last year, 3,327 cases of theft were reported in Hisar division whereas this time till November 4,287 incidents of theft have taken place. This is an increase of up to 25%. Vehicle theft cases were 2,182 last year while 2,607 have been registered this time, IGP said.

Many cases of cyber crimes have come to the fore this year. Till November 30, a total of 5,373 cyber crime complaints were received in Hisar division, out of which 1,777 were settled and 141 cases were registered. Out of these, arrests have been made in 95 cases while investigation is going on in 57 cases. According to the registered FIR, cyber fraud of Rs 2.57 crore has taken place from 141 people, out of which the police have recovered Rs 53,85,480 from the accused.
