CHANDIGARH: The tenant living on the first floor of former mayor Shubhash Chawla’s house allegedly damaged the car of latter’s son while reversing his sedan and fled on Monday. A case of rash driving has been registered against Sahil Kumar, the tenant.

In his

police

complaint Sumit Chawla, a resident of Sector 23-C, said he had parked his car in front of the house. At 12.30pm, when he came out of the house, he was shocked to see his car’s bumper and driver’s door damaged.

Sumit went inside the house to check the CCTV camera footage. On scanning the footage, he saw that their tenant had hit his car and damaged it while reversing his sedan. The accused later fled from the spot.

Based on Sumit’s complaint, the police registered a case under Section 279 (rash driving on public way) of the

Indian Penal Code

at Sector 17 police station.

Cops

said, “We have registered a case based on the complaint and the investigation is under progress.”
