"A devotee who comes daily to the temple to pay obeisance knocked at the gate. When we both went towards the main hall, we found the lock broken. We are sure that the thieves entered from the rear of the big Shivling that has been constructed near the corner of the temple's entrance," said Tiwari.
On being asked as to why the CCTVs were off, he added, "We usually switch off the main lights. We did not even come to know that along with other lights even CCTV cameras are turned off."
In the same sector, an Accent car was also stolen from someone's residence.
"Our car was parked outside. When my dad woke up in the morning, he saw that it was not there," said Anshika Gupta.
"As both the incidents have happened on the same night, we suspect the thieves might have first stolen the car and then used it for the other crime. It seems to be the work of a gang," said a police officer.
A case has been registered at the Sector 14 police station.
