CHANDIGARH: A Tehran-based businessman has lodged a complaint with police that his 1,000 Euros were stolen from his room when he was staying at a five-star hotel in Sector 35.
Seyed Mohsen Tasalloti, along with two other directors of a multinational company, had come to Chandigarh to attend a business meeting in June 2014. They were all staying at the hotel.
The theft came to light when Tasalloti, along with the two others, was scheduled to board a return flight on June 21.
Tasalloti and another director of the company, Seyed Farhad Akhlaghi, then put off their return plan for a day and stayed in the hotel on their own expenses.
Sources in police said the next day, too, the hotel management did not give them a satisfactory reply. After he left for Tehran, he authorized Bhaskar Sharma, a Chandigarh-based official of their company, to pursue the matter.
In his complaint to Chandigarh police, Tasalloti accused the hotel management of misleading him. He said they had assured to conduct a thorough probe and pay for his loss, but they did nothing.
Tasalloti, who moved the complaint to the UT IG, said, "I had complained to Sector 36 police station too, but cops took no action."
Police said the FIR was registered on Thursday after verifying all facts. The hotel staff members would be summoned for questioning. The case was registered at Sector 36 police station.
