Teachers protest transfer of JTA chairman in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: Teachers protested in front of Sector 9 secretariat against the transfer of Joint Teachers Association chairman Ranveer Jhorar, repeatedly demanding the cancellation of his transfer.JTA president Dinesh Dahiya, convenor Dr Ramesh Chand Sharma, legal advisor Arvind Rana, general secretary Ajay Sharma, co-convenor Sangeeta Rani, cashier Praveen Kaur, Anu Kumar, and Ashok Kumar of Class IV employees' association demanded that Ranveer's transfer be cancelled with immediate effect.The representatives said they tried to meet the education secretary to present their point of view, but the secretary refused to listen to them. They said that a committee was formed to investigate a complaint at Sector 16 school, and the investigation is ongoing.They expressed confidence that the committee's decision would reveal the truth, but they argued that transferring Ranveer during a pending investigation is a one-sided action reflecting the department's unjust practices.The representatives warned that if the education department does not listen to them, they will not hesitate to sit on a hunger strike and protest. It is worth mentioning that when the teachers' delegation was going to submit the memorandum, the situation became heated when a police officer tried to forcibly remove the teachers from the scene.Following this, the teachers met with the SSP, expressed their anger over the incident, and handed over their memorandum. The delegation said the SSP assured them she would investigate the incident.
