Swiss national helps develop solution for better farm care

QADIAN: Raising concern over health hazards caused by rampant use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, a Swiss national in

Qadian

has evolved a new microbial solution to help farmers to not only grow healthy crop but also ensure improved soil quality and thus better yield. Speaking to TOI , Zurg Camastrol explained that during green revolution in India there was significant amount of organic matter in the soil which helped soil to retain water and oxygen molecules which in turn would give high yield of crop. “But due to continued crop yield over decades, the percentage of organic matter in soil came down to earlier 8% to less than .2% which has made the soil infertile” he said.

Zurg_a Swiss national along with local agriculturist Yakub Khan claims to have developed the microbial solution which they had been distributing among farmers to check its results.Elaborating the advantages, Yakub said when mixed with cow dung or other

biomass

, the microbial solution helps to retain nutrients in the soil. ``It makes the soil porous for better aeriation and controls the harmful insects attack on crops,’’ said Zurg. He said that they had given samples of their microbial solution to the Krishi Vigyan Kendra,

Gurdaspur

for trials on the crops .Zurg informed that they were also working on another microbial solution which would dissolve the stubble in the field to produce manure to prevent farmers from burning the stubble that leads to environment problems.
