Himachal road rage: SUV trio stabs 4 bus staffers, opens fire in Kangra
KULLU: Three occupants of a Thar SUV were arrested on Wednesday night after stabbing four people and firing in the air in a case of road rage in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district.Police identified the suspects as Balwinder Singh and Alish of Pathankot, and Nishan Pal of Hoshiarpur. According to police, the confrontation began around 8:30 pm near Bairghatta in Thural tehsil when the SUV repeatedly blocked a Delhi-bound private Volvo bus on way from Bir Billing. At Chulla, the Thar driver stopped abruptly and reversed into the bus. When the bus driver stepped out to investigate, one of the suspects stabbed him, according to a complaint filed by conductor of the Volvo bus and a resident of Chamba district.
The complaint alleged as staff from two following buses arrived to intervene, the suspects attacked them as well, stabbing two more conductors and another driver. When a crowd of locals gathered, one suspect brandished a pistol, threatened the group and fired in the air. Police from the Bhawarna station arrived soon and overpowered the three men, who were allegedly drunk. The victims—drivers Sunder Singh and Vijay Kumar, and conductors Raj Kumar and Pravesh Kumar—were rushed to the Thural community health centre. Raj Kumar and Vijay Kumar were later referred to Government Medical College in Tanda for treatment. Kangra ASP Bir Bahadur said the suspects are in custody and the SUV, knife and pistol have been seized. Police have registered a case under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Arms Act.
