<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">SAILA KHURD (GARHSHANKAR): In a statement that may have far-reaching consequences for the Punjab Congress, CPM supremo Harkishen Singh Surjeet said, "If the Punjab Congress and certain Congress leaders did not change their attitude towards the CPM in the state, it would become imperative for the CPM to react and not spare anybody."<br /><br />Speaking in a press conference here on Monday, Surjeet, however, added that the CPM would keep in mind the broader picture of resisting the communal BJP.

Surjeet had come here to garner support for the CPM candidate Maha Singh Rori.<br /><br />Surjeet, who seemed upset over the manner the Congress announced its candidate at Garhshankar, said that Ambika Soni''s statement that the Congress needed to keep its vote bank intact had no meaning. Ambika Soni was in Garhshankar constituency last week seeking votes for Congress candidate Luv Kumar Goldy. Reminding the Congress of the CPM support at the Center, Surjeet said that the Congress government at the Center had not stabilized yet and Congress should not do things that could de-stabilize it further.<br /><br />The CPM leader said though Congress was within its right to announce its candidate for the election, he saw no reason for it to announce its candidate at Garhshankar. "<span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Inha noon latt arraan di koi lod nahin si. Iddan Kamm nahin challna</span> (Congress did not need to put its foot in. Things will not work this way)," Surjeet warned.</div> </div>
