Summons issued against Babbu Mann

After getting complaints against his controversial song which is an insult to freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai’s martyrdom, Moga police has issued summons against famous Punjabi singer Babbu Mann. But with he being abroad, summons have been returned undelivered.

The orders, which would be sent again when he returns to India, have been issued to make Babbu clear his position over complaints of insulting the martyr by singing a song on Lala saying that he didn’t die of the cane blows but heart attack at a concert in England. Confirming issuance of summons against Babbu Mann, Moga SP(H) Jagmohan Singh said these have been issued on complaint of Lala Lajpat Rai Youth and Welfare Club, Dhudike — birthplace of the martyr. He said the summons under Section 107 CrPC. Times of India had highlighted the issue inits columns after a clip was released on the internet where Babbu Mann has beenshown making remarks at a stage show. Taking note of the insult, Lala Lajpat RaiYouth and Welfare Club, Dhudike, and village panchayat had burnt Babbu’seffigy and were demanding registration of case. Meanwhile,Babbu’s close associate Tarlochan Singh said Babbu does not mean to insultthe freedom fighter, but has taken the reference from a book published by SGPCand has felt sorry for the remarks.
