Suicidal video triggers public agitations in Kangra

DHARAMSHALA: Infuriated over the role of a cop in the suicide of Ankush Kumar (21), locals of Jawali area in Kangra district have started agitations demanding the former be fired. Surjeet Kumar station head officer Jawali police station who was transferred to the police lines has been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been initiated against him, according to the Superintendent of Police (SP).

But the protesters will not relent till he is removed from service. The deceased committed suicide after recording a video, which was also uploaded on YouTube with 2000 views so far.
The incident took place in the Jawali area of Kangra district on June 20. The video that went viral led to disenchantment and anger among locals. Taking immediate action cops arrested seven people.
Public blocked roads in Jawali for about four hours protesting against the police officer on Wednesday evening. On Thursday, the SP visited the area to listen their demands.
As per reports, some boys and girls beat up the deceased in public. The police had to intervene to resolve the matter. But later the boy committed suicide at his house.
