State government trying to plug faults in educational set up

Admitting that there had been shortfalls, in fact, glaring faults in the educational setup since independence cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia said that state government was putting in best efforts to plug these faults.

AMRITSAR: Admitting that there had been shortfalls, in fact, glaring faults in the educational setup since independence cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia said that state government was putting in best efforts to plug these faults.
He was speaking at a function held by Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) on Friday.He said that during last five years more than 50 thousand employees had been recruited into the teaching and non-teaching cadre.

Technical Education and Industrial Training Department had facilitated the establishment of 61 new degree level Institutions, 71 new Diploma Level Institutions and 67 new Industrial Training Institutions in the state. On the occasion he exhorted CKD to reach out to the lesser privileged sections of society and come up with more schemes for enrolling orphans, physically challenged and economically weaker children He said that CKD started imparting education more than a hundred years ago when education was not even a household word.
The founders of CKD realized the role of education in shaping a nation and took up the herculean task. Hitherto, CKD has been confined to school education alone but now its expansion into dissemination of professional education was a welcome initiative. He said imparting professional and skill based education which enables the youth to be self sufficient was the need of the hour.
