State BJP chief Dr Rajeev Bindal accuses HP govt of anarchy, constitutional breakdown
Shimla: State BJP president Dr Rajeev Bindal said on Thursday that shielding those who tarnished India's image during the recent international AI Summit in Delhi was the height of anarchy by the Himachal Pradesh govt, and that pitting Himachal police against Delhi police was a direct assault on the Constitution and the rule of law.The BJP leader called the recent events "unprecedented and deeply disturbing". He claimed that instead of cooperating with due legal process, the state govt created a confrontation between the Himachal Pradesh police and the Delhi police when the latter came to the hill state to arrest three Youth Congress members in the case. He alleged that a Delhi Police team, which arrived with court orders to carry out lawful arrests, was met with an FIR filed against them by Himachal Police on charges of abduction, triggering a tense standoff. Dr Bindal further alleged a decline in law and order over the past 3 years, citing incidents of violence, attacks on officials, and serious crimes across the state. He accused the state govt of indifference in these matters while being "hyperactive" in protecting those accused of defaming the nation. Calling the issue sub judice, he said turning it into an inter-police conflict undermined federal principles and the rule of law. "The people will respond to this misgovernance democratically," he added.
