Song celebrating violence: Singer Masoom Sharma booked
Chandigarh: The police have registered a case against Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma for allegedly performing a banned song that glorifies violence during a live concert held at Panjab University (PU) on March 28. According to a complaint filed by ASI Surinder Singh at Sector 11 police station, Sharma violated the conditions of his performance permit. The singer had received permission from the deputy commissioner (DC), UT, to perform at the event on the assurance that he would refrain from singing songs promoting violence, gun culture, or drug use. However, ASI Singh alleged that Sharma performed a banned song glorifying violence during the concert.As a result, the police have booked Masoom Sharma under Section 223 of the BNS, which pertains to disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant. Also, in a tragic incident, Aditya Thakur, a second-year computer science student at UIET, was stabbed to death during the concert by individuals from outside the campus. Three other students were also injured in the assault. Following the incident, the police arrested four individuals in connection with the attack.
