CHANDIGARH: A spell of rain along with overcast conditions on Tuesday cooled the city enduring hot and humid conditions for past few days, sending the mercury down to 33.8 degrees celsius from the high of 40s. The minimum was recorded at 32.1 degree celsius.
If the weatherman is to be believed, more relief is in the offing as pre-monsoon showers will arrive in a day or two.
Surender Pal, director, meteorological department, says, a??Pre-monsoon showers are expected this week. As a result, temperatures will go down. Monsoon is expected to hit Chandigarh early.a?? Though no date has been fixed, the monsoon is likely to reach the city on June 30.
Weather will also remain sultry. Humidity levels which are ranging around 75% now could to go up. According to the weatherman, a trough line passes through south Punjab, south Haryana and south Uttar Pradesh, which increases the humidity level and leads to rain.
