SIT probing 328 missing saroops case reconstituted, Ropar DIG Nanak Singh new chairman

Chandigarh: The Punjab Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday reconstituted the six-member special investigation team (SIT) probing the disappearance of 328 saroops of the Guru Granth Sahib, replacing four members, including its chairman.As per orders issued by bureau of investigation director L K Yadav, Ropar Range DIG Nanak Singh has been appointed SIT chairman in place of Mohali AIG (vigilance) Jagatpreet Singh, who is no longer part of the team.Khanna SSP Darpan Ahluwalia, Mohali SP (special branch) Sukhnaaz Singh and the SHO of Amritsar's C Division police station, Rajwant Kaur, have been included as new members of the SIT.
The other three SIT members who have been removed include Amritsar deputy commissioner of police (investigation) Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu, Amritsar additional deputy commissioner of police Harpal Singh Sandhu, and Ludhiana assistant commissioner of police Beant Juneja.Patiala SP (Detective) Gurbans Singh Bains and Amritsar ACP (Detective) Harminder Singh have been retained. Amritsar commissioner of police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar will continue to supervise the probe.The order issued by Yadav read, "The commissioner of police, Amritsar shall provide all necessary logistic support to the aforesaid SIT for fair, scientific and expeditious investigation of the aforesaid case. The SIT may co-opt any officer as member of the SIT with the approval of this office."Reacting on the reconstitution of the SIT, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia posted on X, "Another act of the adhoc acting DGP." The reason for changing the SIT is that the earlier SIT refused to take false action against political individuals and refused to include leaders' names. It also declined to operate the SIT from the @AAPPunjab office." Majithia added, "More revelations will be made soon." He also put out a "note" in the post, which read: "This SIT will be changed again and again until their political agenda is fulfilled."
