Sirsa man forced to eat cow dung over Rs 1,000 bet, video goes viral
Hisar: The Sirsa Police have registered a criminal case against 3 persons for allegedly humiliating, exploiting, and defaming a person with disability by forcing him to consume cow dung after intoxicating him with alcohol, and subsequently circulating a video of the incident on social media.According to the police, a case was registered at Police Station Rania on the basis of a complaint filed by Kuldeep, a resident of Rania, under Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 92-A (punishment for offences) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. The accused were identified as Mukhtiyar Singh, Ranjeet Singh, and Jaswinder Singh, all residents of Rania.
As per sources, the complainant is a polio-affected person. The complainant alleged that on January 7, the accused persons called him to a house situated opposite the residence of Harbhajan Singh, on the pretext of offering him liquor. It is alleged that after intoxicating him, the accused offered him a sum of Rs 1,000 and forcibly fed him cow dung, followed by making him consume alcohol again. The entire incident was allegedly recorded on video by the accused, and later circulated on social media with the intention of humiliating and defaming him.The complainant further stated that on January 11, his relatives informed him about the viral video after seeing it on social media platforms. Upon coming to know about the circulation of the video and apprehending damage to his reputation, he approached the police and lodged a formal complaint. The viral video reportedly depicts 4 to 5 persons seated in a cattle shed. One individual is seen bringing cow dung on a shovel while holding currency notes in his other hand. He is heard calling out the complainant by name and offering him Rs 1,000 in exchange for consuming the cow dung. After the complainant tastes the dung and demands the money, the accused allegedly insist that he consume it again before paying him. The video further shows the accused counting and handing over the money. The recording was later circulated widely on social media. Police officials stated that the matter is under investigation.It may be noted that this is not the first instance of a video related to the consumption of cow dung going viral in Haryana. In an earlier incident from Karnal, a doctor was seen consuming cow dung and explaining its purported medicinal benefits. However, in that case, there was no allegation of coercion or force.
