Sirsa driver’s dream run: Wins Rs 10cr lottery
Hisar: A driver and daily-wage labourer from Sirsa district has become an overnight crorepati after winning the Rs 10 crore jackpot in the Punjab State Dear Lottery's Lohri–Makar Sankranti Bumper 2026. Prithvi Singh, a resident of Mohammadpuriya village in Rania area, struck the bumper prize with a Rs 500 ticket he had purchased from lottery seller Madan Lal at Killianwali Mandi. The winning ticket bore the number 327706.Prithvi lives with his wife Suman, daughter Ritika, six-year-old son Daksh, and father Devi Lal. While he works as a driver and labourer, Suman is employed as a peon in a nearby school. News of the lottery win brought celebrations to their home as relatives and villagers gathered, beating drums and welcoming him with garlands made of currency notes.
This was Prithvi's second attempt at buying a lottery ticket. He had purchased three tickets priced at Rs 500, Rs 200 and Rs 100, but it was the costliest ticket that earned him the jackpot. Madan Lal, the seller, personally informed him of the win over the phone. Madan Lal, who has been in the lottery business for many years, said he has earlier sold tickets that fetched prizes between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 5 crore, but described this as the biggest prize so far.Sharing his excitement, Prithvi said he plans to use the prize money to start his own business. His son Daksh expressed the family's joy by declaring that they would now buy a Thar SUV. Suman said the win felt like divine blessing and that the family had never imagined such a dramatic change in their lives. Since the announcement, their house has been flooded with congratulatory messages from villagers and relatives.To claim the prize, Prithvi will submit his Aadhaar card, PAN card, bank passbook and the original winning ticket at the lottery office in Chandigarh.
