'SI Majitha gave me death threat'

Naresh Kumar, a 16-year-old victim of Punjab police torture said that he was tied upside down for hours and hit till he became unconscious.

CHANDIGARH: "Sub-inspector Balwant Singh Majitha tied me upside down for hours and hit me till I became unconscious. I regained conscious at PGI, the next day," said Naresh Kumar, a 16-year-old victim of alleged Punjab police torture, while talking to mediapersons, here on Wednesday. Naresh who was at Ludhiana jail was granted bail on Monday.
The minor was allegedly kept by Morinda Policein illegal custody for six days .

During the period he was 'brutally tortured by SI Majitha' on several occasions.
Because of the torture, Naresh's condition became so critical that he was taken to Morinda Civil Hospital from where he was referred to PGI Chandigarh.
There also Majitha allegedly manhandled boy's mother Balbeer Kaur and Jagpal Singh, MC councillor from Morinda.
Although, the incident was reported to local police and two DDRs were registered in Sector 11 police station on the same day, no action has been taken so far.

Wednesday filed a criminal complaint in the lower court against SI Majitha.
He alleged that Majitha had manhandled him. "He removed my turban and pulled my hair. He also threatened me that he would implicate me into false cases if I try to help the family of Naresh Kumar," claimed Jagpal Singh.
"We feel dejected by the indifferent attitude of Chandigarh Police. They are hand in gloves with Punjab cops. Now we have approached lower court for justice," says Gagan Aggarwal, executive member of Lawyers for the Human Rights International.
