AMRITSAR: Chief Minister of Delhi Shiela Dikshit claimed that Delhi government had fulfilled the demands of victims of 1984 anti-Sikh riots and had rehabilitated them. Besides this the government was taking initiatives for their economic upliftment.
Dikshit was talking to mediapersons at the Information Centre of Golden Temple on Friday.
Dikshit along with her cabinet colleagues and MLAs was here on a day''s tour to pay obeisance and seek Almighty’s blessing for the victory of Congress in forthcoming elections.
About the alleged involvement of few Congress leaders in the anti-Sikh riots, she said that law was taking its course and any decision of the court would be acceptable to them. Shiela hailed the contribution of Sikhs in the development of Delhi.
Politically speaking, Dikshit said, Sonia Gandhi was their undisputed leader and if elected to power, Sonia Gandhi would be their prime ministerial candidate. She claimed of victory in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. she criticized the Central government and termed it a ''rollback government'' while claiming that BJP led NDA government wouldn’t find any acceptability among the public.
She also inaugurated a 100 room girls hostel of Guru Nanak Dev University and presided over a cultural programme in which students of colleges presented cultural programmes like folk orchestra, gidha, folk dacne etc. She also hailed the services of the University.
Dikshit was accompanied by five cabinet ministers and 12 MLAs including Raj Kumar Chohan, education minister, Ashok Walia, finance minister, Ravinder Lovely, tourism minister, Yoga Anand, health minister and Ajay Makan, speaker Delhi Vidhan Sabha.
Ranbir Singh, personal assistant of SGPC president Gurcharan Singh Tohra, Daljit Singh Bedi and Major Singh Rataul, manager Golden Temple presented siropas to Dikshit. However, Ajay Makan, whose father Lalit Makan''s name had figured in the anti-Sikh riots, wasn''t bestowed with a siropa. However Onkar Singh Sharifpura and other Akali leaders presented siropa to rest of the team.
