SGPC suspends 51 langar officials

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has suspended 51 of its officials for mismanaging Sri Guru Ramdas Ji langar. SGPC secretary Pratap Singh claimed the action was based on a flying squad’s investigation. The suspended officials include the common kitchen’s managers, supervisors, and two storekeepers, besides a gurdwara inspector. Earlier, a scam in the auction of stale chapattis and other anomalies had come to light, forcing the SGPC to start an investigation.SDO arrested for taking ₹2L bribeChandigarh: Punjab vigilance bureau on Tuesday nabbed panchayati raj department SDO Amarjeet Kumar, who was posted at BDPO office in Fatehgarh Sahib, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh in lieu of issuing a utilisation certificate. The accused has been arrested on the complaint of Lovely Singh, a resident of Sherpur. He alleged that the officer had already taken Rs 1.70 lakh from him in lieu of providing him a job.
