BATHINDA: Sepoy Sukhjinder Singh was cremated with full military honours at his native village of Alike in Bathinda on Saturday. Sukhjinder, 24, of 7 Rashtriya Rifles was killed on Thursday morning after a bullet hit him on the way to Badami Bagh cantonment on the outskirts of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. He was on his way to duty early Thursday morning when he was martyred, said Army officials.

Army personnel led by Subedar Sukhbinder Singh and Subedar Bhupinder Singh brought Sukhjinder's body to the village and paid him tributes by reversing arms.
Ramura Phool sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Narinder Singh Dhaliwal and Rampura deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Gurjit Singh Romana, who attended the cremation, said, "Sukhjinder joined the Army two and a half years ago and was still unmarried. He was cremated with military honours. Sukhjinder's father Beant Singh is a small farmer."
