CHANDIGARH: A free self-employment camp was organised by the Rayat Bahra University and Cordia Group of Institutes in collaboration with the District Employment Office, Fatehgarh Sahib, at the Cordia campus of the Rayat Bahra University.

A free medical camp organised by the Bahra Super Specialty Hospital had people turning up for free consultation with specialist doctors. Pathological tests were done for free on the occasion. The camp was inaugurated by Ajay Singh Libra, chairman of the District Planning Board, Fatehgarh Sahib. Lord Diljeet Rana, chairman of the Cordia Group, Gurvinder Singh Bahra, chancellor of Rayat Bahra University, Urmil Verma (Trustee) were also present on the occasion.

Representatives of different departments including dairy development, fisheries, SC/BC Corporation, and District Industries Centre apprised the youth about different self-employment ventures. They also helped youth fill in applications for loans for starting their own ventures.

Additional deputy commissioner Anupreeta Johal lauded the initiative taken by the Rayat Bahra University and Cordia Group of Institutes which she hoped would go a long way to help youth set up their own ventures.

Rupinder Kaur, district employment officer, speaking on the occasion called upon youth to benefit from various government schemes to start their own business.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University-Cordia campus, said that the Rayat Bahra University was providing education in different streams. At the same time, it was committed to make the youths of the adjoining areas become self-dependent and the camp was a step in this direction.

Bahra lauded the role of Lord Diljeet Rana, chairman of the Cordia Group of Institutions, in providing facilities of quality education in the predominantly rural area.
