Second phase of Gaon Bachao movement kickstarted

DEHRADUN: The second innings of Gaon Bachao movement will kickstart from October 2 this year. Anil Joshi, renowned environmentalalist who had led the same movement last year will be heading the second phase as well.


Speaking in a meeting of representatives of various villages, he said, "The campaign will start from October 2 on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Father of the nation always laid stress that our country can never be developed without the development in the villages. During our statewide campaign through the villages, we will discuss the viability of alternative politics which has villages as its main component."


He said, the villagers would also be educated about their voting rights through the campaign. He further added that a manifesto related to the issues would be given to the candidates fighting the election.


Munna Rana, political activist emphasised on need to start a campaign to save the state as well. Rajesh Krishak, other participant rued that liquor made its way into the villages, much before the development. Another representatives VK Bahuguna suggested that we must have women oriented development.
