SD's Kheri Gurna campus to give free education to 90-plus scorers

SD College, Kheri Gurna, a sister institute of SD College in Sector 32, has announced free education for students who have secured 90% and above in Class XII exam for its B Com, B Com (Hons), BBA and MCom (integrated) courses. The institute is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala.

CHANDIGARH: SD College, Kheri Gurna, a sister institute of SD College in Sector 32, has announced free education for students who have secured 90% and above in Class XII exam for its B Com, B Com (Hons), BBA and MCom (integrated) courses. The institute is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala.
Dean (academics) SC Vaidya said such students will be awarded free tuition and books, along with a cash award of Rs 10,000 each.

"Owing to the exceedingly high cut-offs in commerce streams, the student application ratio is 1:20 and majority of students have been left disappointed. That is why we took this decision," said Bhushan K Sharma, principal, SD College, Sector 32.
"The difference between the two colleges is that we have included 30% practical knowledge and training as a part of the curriculum. Students will be taken to industrial visits to get the in-house experience of a professional life." he added.
"We are proving better infrastructure at Kheri Gurna, sharing of expert faculty members and the students will engage in social responsibility in a conducive learning environment," said Upkar Krishan Sharma, chairman of GGDSD College Society.
The Kheri Gurna college is offering 60 seats in B Com, 60 in B Com (Hons), 50 each in BBA and MCom (integrated), and 1 section for BA admissions for the coming session. Students who have scored 90% and above and are applying, will be given admission on first come, first serve basis. The admission procedure this year for SD College, Kheri Gurna, is offline.
The last date for filling admission forms is July 14. Classes will commence from July 15.
