<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">JAITU, Faridkot: Following an investigation on the directions of director vigilance Punjab, the district police have booked sarpanch of Bhambia Bhai village, a numberdar, a patwari and three others for the offence of cheating and forgery on Friday.<br /><br />Two ex-member panchayats of Bhambia Bhai have submitted a complaint to director vigilance department last year alleging that sarpanch Gurmail Singh had contested elections on the basis of a fake scheduled caste certificate.<br /><br />It was also alleged that the former sarpanch of the village Darshan Singh, a numberdar Ranjeet Singh, halqa patwari Angrej Singh and two other persons connived with Gurmail Singh to prepare fake scheduled caste certificate.<br /><br />The vigilance director had referred the matter to Faridkot district police chief to investigation.
During the investigation it was found that in fact Gurmail Singh was the resident of village Chandbhan. He had his ration card and vote registered in Chandbhan village. But to contest sarpanch election from Bhambia Bhai village, the accused forged the documents in connivance with other culprits and contested election as a scheduled caste candidate, the reserve seat.<br /><br />The police have registered criminal case under Section 420, 419, 465, 486 and 120-B of IPC against six persons. <br /><br /><formid=367815></formid=367815></div> </div>
