Sarod player mesmerizes Ludhiana audiences
Ludhiana: Sarod player Pt. Biswajit Roy Chowdhury, who was accompanied by Prasenjit Adhikary on tabla mesmerized the audience with their performance on the last day convention of SPIC MACAY held at Delhi Public School, Jhammat village on Sunday.
More than 130 students from north India participated in the convention. Roy Chowdhury’s musical depth added value to the evening.
Roy Chowdhury, who regaled the audience at various national music concerts, played different ragas of the Hindustani classical music. At the end of his performance, he mesmerized the audience with a desi raag composition.
That is not all. The volunteers were gently awakened from their sweet slumber at 3.30 am to be a part of naada yoga and hatha yoga. The early morning yoga session that took place from 4 am to 7 am was carefully planned by the Gurus of naada yoga and hatha yoga. The aim was to provide one with a balanced development of the physical, mental and spiritual being to attain perfect harmony with nature.
A special module for the junior wing kids was organized by Dr Kiran Seth, the founder of Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY). Gayatri Kapoor from Saharanpur chapter said, “Students learn if they are taught how to concentrate. Dr Seth demonstrated simple activities. Dr Seth helped the kids learn classical music through different body movements. He also emphasized on the fact that learning classical music at an early age improves memory, emotional intelligence and concentration level.”
A cleanliness drive was also held. Shalini Chauhan, another teacher from Saharanpur said that to preserve the rich heritage of our country, it is important to organize heritage walk modules. Keeping this in mind, a visit to Mughal Sarai Fort was organized wherein the visitors observed and appreciated the fine architecture and inscriptions of the historic era.
Balmit Kaur, principal, Delhi Public School Ludhiana, said, “The two-day convention left the audience enriched with vast musical experiences. Such an initiative makes education more holistic and meaningful as it highlights all that is abstract, subtle, inspiring and mystical in the world.”
