Sonipat police

on Friday claimed to have recovered the entire amount of Rs 17.56 lakh robbed from a trader by three men, including two cops of Rohtak.

According to police, Rs 12.59 lakh was recovered from the residence of constable Manjit Singh in

Bayyapur village

in Sonipat district. Manjit was arrested on Thursday. An amount of Rs 1.20 lakh was recovered from constable Rajiv Kumar and Rs 3.77 lakh from Sandeep Kumar, former banker and the main conspirator who connived with the two cops to loot a Sonipat trader

On Friday, all the three accused were produced before the court in Sonipat that remanded them to judicial custody.

On December 9, Bansal was returning along with Sandeep who had been helping him in banking issues. As they reached near the outskirts of Sonipat, Rajiv and Manjit stopped them and fled after snatching the money. Sandeep was the complainant in the case.

Sandeep had good terms with Manjit who was posted in reserves of Rohtak. Rajiv was also in reserves, but was currently deployed in the escort guard of Haryana minister Manish Grover.
