The mayor’s move to call councillors in a segregated manner has shown that he is lobbying for the BJP
CHANDIGARH: A fresh disagreement has erupted between the ruling BJP and opposition Congress and AAP to develop consensus on the construction of the new integrated garbage processing plant at Dadumajra.
The Congress on Wednesday refused an invite from mayor Anup Gupta to attend a meeting to watch a presentation on the waste plant, objecting to a special meeting held for the BJP alone.

Mayor Anup Gupta had called BJP councillors on Tuesday to provide information about the plant. BJP Chandigarh president Arun Sood and general secretary Ramvir Bhatti had attended the meeting too. Senior officers of the MC had briefed about financial and technical aspects about the plant.
Slams

The opposition asked why the mayor was calling councillors in a segregated manner instead of holding a joint meeting of all 35 councillors. It also slammed the mayor for calling BJP city president and office-bearers to the meeting held on a holiday. The mayor has also called AAP leader of opposition Damanpreet Singh, asking for his party councillors' time for the presentation.
