RK Sharma admitted to hospital

MOHALI: Amidst tight security, Ravi Kant Sharma, former IG, Haryana and prime accused in journalist Shivani Bhatnagar murder case, was brought to the town and admitted to a local private hospital for spinal surgery here, in the wee hours of Sunday.
His wife Madhu Sharma and senior doctors were present at the hospital. Eleven police personnel, four were permanently stationed outside his private room and seven positioned at various points of the hospital, accompanied Sharma from New Delhi.

Sharma is in jail since September 2002.
The Delhi High Court had allowed Sharma to be operated on his spine in Mohali. Dr VK Kak, neuro-surgeon and former director, GMCH is likely to operate on Sharma on Thursday. Basic tests and MRI were conducted in the hospital on Sunday.
Some tests, which were scheduled for Sunday, would be conducted on Monday, as he had not brought his medical records with him.
