LUDHIANA: To observe Martyrdom Day of Mahatama Gandhi and other Martyrs of the country, as Shaheedi Diwas, a function was organized at Mini Secretariat here on Friday, where rich tributes were paid to late Mahatama Gandhi by observing two minutes silence by the participants.
A contingent of Punjab Police saluted the National Flag by reversing arms as a mark of respect to the martyrs of the country.

Anurag Verma, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana, who presided over the function paying his tributes said that the whole nation would always remembers the great sacrifices of Mahatama Gandhi and other martyrs of the country, who laid down their lives during freedom struggle and after wards safeguarding the freedom.
He said that Gandhiji had led a unique and unmatched peaceful and non- violent movement to bring freedom to the nation. He said that the real tributes to Gandhi and other martyrs would be to strengthen the unity, integrity and peace of the country.
Among others who attended the function included Ajmer Singh ADC (General ), Sumer Singh Gurjjar ADC (D), M. S Jaggi Assistant Commissioner (General), Prem Chand SDM ( East), Kuldeep Singh SDM (West), A K Sharma Deputy Director Small Savings and M S Grewal DDPO.
